Tell Primark not to cut and run
In response to an expose of workers' rights abuses in its supply chains, Primark has sacked three of its Indian suppliers. Take action to demand that the company takes responsibility for the impact of its own business practices.

A BBC Panorama investigation has uncovered the widespread use of subcontracting in the manufacture of embroidered goods for Primark, including the employment of homeworkers under extremely bad conditions and possible instances of child labour. Instead of taking responsibility for the impact of its own business practices on workers in its supply chains, Primark has cut and run from three Indian suppliers.
Take action on the Labour Behind the Label website: call on Primark to reverse its decision and take positive action on behalf of workers.
Labour Behind the Label point out that sacking suppliers fails to take account of the fact that this kind of subcontracting, in which factories recruit unregulated suppliers to help them meet high production targets, is not a one-off problem. It is widespread and systematic. As long as companies are demanding high volume orders, with short lead times, at the lowest possible price, subcontracting will continue. Companies need to look at their own practices and work with others to create a more stable industry where profits are more equitably shared.
This is the rationale behind People & Planet’s Redress Fashion campaign which has been targeting Topshop this year.
