Start a group at your school or college and become part of a vibrant network of sixth form, college and university students taking action on poverty, human rights and the environment.
As part of a group you will:
- Take action with other like-minded students on issues you care about.
- Have the opportunity to attend fantastic P&P events throughout the year.
- Gain skills and experience which will look great on your UCAS form or CV.
If there isn’t a People & Planet group at your school, then why not go ahead and start one?
It’s not as scary as it sounds, just follow the step by step guide below. We will support you from the office and answer any questions you may have.
Step 1
Let us know at the P&P office that you’re interested in starting a group. You can email us at action@peopleandplanet.org or phone us on 01865 245678. We will allocate you a member of staff who can help you set up a group and support it when it’s running!
Step 2
Inform a teacher that you aim to set up a group in the school. Get them to have a look at our teachers’ pages and find out if they can help you set up a workshop, advertise the group or book rooms for your meetings.
Step 3
Book a workshop for your year group or class. Get your teacher to give us a call on 01865 245678. A P&P presenter will come along to your school or college, run an interactive workshop on one of our campaigns and inspire lots of people to get involved with your group.

Step 4
Plan your first meeting. Check out our Groups Guide for ideas on recruitment, how to hold fun and effective meetings and how to run winning campaigns. Invite your P&P support person to come along to your first meeting and help out!
Step 5
Get active. Start campaigning by holding stalls, running events, writing to politicians, raising awareness among students or whatever you want to do. To get an idea of what you could achieve, have a look at what other groups have been up to.
Don’t forget to stay in touch with your P&P support contact and benefit from all the help and advice on offer.
Once you have taken these five steps you should be well placed to make a real difference on some of the most important issues facing the world today.
