Every year a group of young AIDS activists from all corners of the world tour UK universities on the Unite to Fight AIDS Speaker Tour. The tour is now in its fourth year and will run over two weeks.
Speakers share their experiences of campaigning to bring an end to the AIDS crisis and raise awareness of how the pandemic affects young people.
Given that more than half of all new HIV infections are among young people aged 16-24, their testimonies are an important call to action for young people in the UK.

Ntenje Katota - Zambia Aged 21, Ntenje is the main carer for her HIV positive mother and has experienced firsthand the difference that access to comprehensive AIDS services can make. As well as supporting her mother, Ntenje has been involved with peer education, care and support initiatives for people living with HIV in Zambia. Ntenje feels she is the voice of the voiceless, as most young people who are affected by the pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa do not have the opportunity to speak out. Her mother’s strength and belief in the fight against the pandemic has had a profound influence on her own life choices.
Bonani Madina - Zimbabwe (tbc) Complicated by severe economic and political crises Zimbabwe is facing one of the harshest epidemics in the world. Bonani is one of the many young people in the country continuing to work to change this situation. Having volunteered as a peer educator for SPW Zimbabwe in 2004 he feels his life’s passion is to see young people rising up to tackle the AIDS epidemic head on. His desire is to see Zimbabwe actively engaging young people in the fight against AIDS especially in the rural areas.
